FAQ
FPT - Fonderia Pressofusione Tapparo specialises in die casting for metals and alloys.
Here are some of our most frequently asked questions.
  • 1 - Q: I am unable to integrate with my supplier's warehouse because I need a particular way of identifying the products. Can you help me with this?

    A. Our IT system is highly adaptable because it is produced directly by us. It lends itself well to being easily integrated. Editing documents and inserting particular print layouts are both simple and quick for us to do.

  • 2 - D: We know our project well but not the die casting process and we would like to understand it better. How can you help us?

    A. The phase to design the equipment is taken care of in detail by interacting with your technical office to obtain safe and easy-to-cast die castings.

  • 3 - Q: We had a mould produced in China but it doesn't work, can you help us?

    A. Yes, of course. We can, for example, do maintenance on the mould and evaluate small interventions that can make it productive. We can take care of the set-up and sampling phase before proceeding with the standard casting of the run.

  • 4 - Q: I need a casting that also includes pieces of other material. Is this possible?

    A. Yes. For years we have produced die castings that incorporate brass or steel components. Experience enables us to ensure excellent results.

  • 5 - Q: Can die-cast aluminium be protected against atmospheric agents?

    A. Yes, by advising you to choose an aluminium alloy from among the ones we have been using for years as anticorrosive alloys. We can also evaluate via specific tests if it is useful to add a surface treatment such as painting or anode oxidation.

  • 6 - Q. Can minimum tolerances be achieved on the die-cast object?

    A. Yes, it is normally possible to achieve very strict tolerances that do not require mechanical processing.

  • 7 - Q. Is it possible to test our pieces with different types of alloys?

    A. In most cases, yes, and with the same mould. It is a matter of analysing the geometry of the piece and the characteristics one would like to obtain from the die casting.

  • 8 - Q. We often find ourselves in need of die castings smaller quantities than in the past. Can you help us?

    A. We are organised to allow for frequent mould changes and this is increasingly consistent with the needs of our customers. We are able to supply low production lots, even of just a few hundred pieces, without affecting the price excessively.

  • 9 - Q. Do our moulds remain on loan for use at the foundry?

    A. Yes, you provide us with your moulds, which we store in a dedicated warehouse ro best manage and protect of your investment. Each mould has its own card which records all preventive and corrective maintenance.

  • 10 - Q. I have some pieces to be produced with gravity casting and others in die casting. Can I contact you?

    A. We can deal with the entire production performing both the gravity casting and the die-cast parts. We can also provide alternative solutions.

  • 11 - Q. I don't know what the market response will be to my new product. Can you help us?

    R. We can create prototypes or pilot moulds to familiarise you with the final quantities and subsequently make the appropriate equipment.

  • 12 - Q. Do you carry out post-moulding processes?

    R. We also deal with the post-moulding phases, knowing their critical issues following contact with your technical and quality offices. The design phase of the equipment as well as the casting methods are consistent with the specifications and subsequent processing phases, guaranteeing the best result both in terms of efficiency and cost reduction.
